Becoming a winemaker for a day is the dream of many. Once a year, between August and October, this desire can become a reality by organizing a team-building event in which the grape harvest is the central topic.
Not only the grape harvest, but also other teamwork in the vineyard throughout the year.
During the other months of the year, it is also possible to actively participate in work in the vineyard, depending on the season, in green pruning, tying vines or maintaining poles and wires (always in cooperation with the winery foreman, of course, to carry out these jobs properly).
Back to the grape harvest, which is truly a unique experience: harvesting the fruit together with colleagues, clients or friends. The vineyard has been pampered for 12 months by the winemaker, protecting it from pests, hail, frost, too much water or drought, to achieve an excellent result in terms of quality and quantity, healthy grapes that are ripe to the point.
When one attends the grape harvest, one realizes that - beyond the romantic aspect and the particularly picturesque natural environment - it is hard work for those who do it every day, even in steep vineyards and harsh weather conditions.
The organization of the various tasks within the team is critical to the success of the harvest.
The common goal is to bring the harvested grapes to the winery during the cooler hours of the day, dividing tasks and necessarily working as a team. The group must traverse the rows together, with different and complementary tasks, to complete the harvest efficiently and without damaging the fruit and vines.
After the activity, we visit the winery where the subsequent operations are explained, such as winemaking, aging and finally bottling to arrive at a glass of quality wine.
The secret of a glass of quality wine: workmanship and environmental sustainability
Experience also contributes to a better appreciation of a glass of wine, because one realizes how much time and effort are required to make quality wine ready to be enjoyed. Let us also not forget the sustainability aspect, which should reward winegrowers who pay attention to the balance between environmental factors, economic sustainability and social sustainability.
Finally tasting
Depending on your needs and wishes, the activity ends with a tasting of wines from the cellar della cantina in the tasting room and a traditional outdoor lunch in a typical local restaurant or a picnic in the vineyard.
